Wednesday Shake-up: Be A Tourist In Your Own City!

Travel is a huge part of our lives here at Sikara for many reasons, it allows us to be curious, adventurous, and do things we wouldn’t normally do. But why do we have to reserve our curiosity and sense of adventure for trips to distant and exotic locations? Today’s Wednesday Shake-up is inspired by a great post over at The Happiness Project. We’re proposing a strange idea: be at tourist in your own city!

All of the cities we live in, whether it’s Austin, San Fransisco, Boston or elsewhere,  have unbelievable amounts of art, architecture, food, and culture—but when you’re bogged down by work and personal commitments it’s easy to get stuck in the same old patterns. Just because you don’t have the time to jet off to Casablanca or Lima, doesn’t mean you have to ‘put your head down and power through’ a dull and monotonous day-to-day.

So on your next day off, instead of going to all your regular spots, explore something new in your own city! Visit that new exhibit at the museum you always pass on your way to work, try a new cafe for your afternoon coffee, and ask your friends what their favorite places are so you can switch up your routine!

While you’re in the midst of exploring your city in a new and creative way, try switching up your style as well!

Do you always wear classic silver pieces? Try out a funkier gold piece like the Vermeil Brushed Leaf Bracelet
