SXSW Day Eight: “Thump” and Jump to the Mexican Sounds

Music at SXSW has been a blast! We hope you’ve been able to catch some great bands. Today we’d like to highlight an international band to add a bit of culture to your day.

Pumcayó is a Mexican band and their name is Spanish for “thump, it fell!” Pumcayó’s music is a mixture of folk and progressive rock and the style can be linked to well-known bands in the United States like Fleet Foxes and Grizzly Bear. The sound is colorful, textured, and raw with Mexican influence strung throughout. Pumcayó has shared the stage with bands such as OKGO and Kings of Convenience. The band is currently recording their debut LP, which was released in February of 2013. Enjoy the beautiful weather and check out this band – it’ll be a great show!
